Dear Lion King, you have too much packaging.
Packaging design isn’t something I do too much of, but I find it to be pretty interesting. With everyone stressing the importance of “going green,” I am especially interested in seeing inventive ways of limiting packaging. Some companies have been doing an excellent job of reducing their footprint in the world. Apparently, Disney has not. And why am I not surprised?
I picked up the Lion King Trilogy Box Set today. I am a huge fan of the Lion King (last month I suffered through a day of work while I was super sick to go see it in 3D that evening), and most of the Disney animated movies that I grew up with. With such an impressive looking package (and a $80 price tag), I sort of expected to get more than I found.

First, there was this box. It is a rather nice box. It has some nice embossing and the images are nice and intricate. I thought “Oooh, this is nice. Like something I could keep on a shelf next to my High School Musical collection and Lizzie McGuire box set.”
Yeah, I’m single. So? Anyway, no problem here. I figured, as with most box sets, there were probably DVDs inside! In DVD packages! Which are quite large! |

When I’m not making the Internet pretty & functional at my day job, I can be found snapping photographs, having dinner with friends, listening to kickass music, fiddling with one of my many Apple products or shopping for new & exciting sweaters.
