About me and this site.

Hey there! Welcome to my online home! I am Aisling (say it like “Ashleen”) Brock, but you may call me Ling. I am a twenty-three year old web designer, currently located in Calgary, Canada.

By day, I work at a marketing agency in the city, building and designing websites; occasionally venturing into rich media and print projects. I ended up doing this as my career after 10 years of designing as a hobby and two years of post secondary education in the New Media Production & Design program at SAIT Polytechnic.

When I’m not messing with websites at work, or yelling profanities at the many web projects that I am part of at home, I enjoy the typical activities of a young female on the cusp of being a stereotypical “hipster”. These activities include going out with friends, shopping, baking 500 cookies on a whim, volunteering and listening to obscure music. I have one dog and about 40 sweaters. In 2006/07 I spent nine months volunteering around Canada with the youth service program Katimavik. My current “big thing” is finding new ways to incorporate bows into my red hair. I am a xylophone enthusiast and the lead singer of the experimental music project Natalie Wood Could Drink You Under The Table.”

I am an Apple fangirl (miss you, Steve!), as evidenced by the iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS and iPod Classic that are in my possession. The only TV show that I follow religiously is Glee (I used to be a drama nerd in high school, go figure). I’m addicted to Twitter and Instagram.

Documenting my life is a big hobby of mine. I was an avid blogger for over 10 years before getting caught up in school and work. In October 2011, I had a sudden burst of longing and created this site during what can best be described as a marathon of design and coding.

So what is this site now? I’m not completely sure. I hope for it to be a blog that details some of the cool stuff that I partake in over the next while, and a place to experiment and display my work in terms of design. I’m also hoping to work a bit more on my skills as a photographer. As a foodie, I will also be sharing recipes. What you see is what you get, I suppose (or maybe I shouldn’t say that, since nobody likes a WYSIWYG).
